Ten years on a hill
Time is a strange thing. It branches out behind you as you lean into the next moment. Plans made often become no more than a direction as the great unknown greets us in every incremental step. Ten years can feel like ten months with a head full of plans and one day can feel like a lifetime when you let go of them all.
So much has happened since we launched Made on a Hill in 2014. Most recently we restored our old greenhouse to hide away from the cold winds and give us a place to pause and reflect. We began to build a whole new workshop out of recycled wood, giving us a little more room to explore projects that wait in the wings. After months of work it is starting to feel like a real space again. As the seasons begin to change we’re preparing for the shorter days and the coming autumn/winter markets. We’ve been quietly working on a brand new website over the last six months and we’re finally ready to launch! We really hope that you’ll enjoy browsing this new space online and that it conveys our passion for creativity and kindness to our planet.
Despite all the up’s and downs that unfold over the years, we are enormously grateful for the roots that keep us grounded and vital. Made on a Hill was forged in the wilderness. We carry that source with us in every petal we place, every piece of wood we carve and brush stroke we chase. Words consistently fail when considering the profundity of what it is to be inspired. However, no journey is without its challenges and there have certainly been moments over the last ten years that have veiled the simplicity of being an artist. Then we remember, to be truly in the moment of being is all we really need do. A unique and fundamental clarity exists in this place. A place that we all have permanent residency and yet the worlds we construct are teaming with the before and after. As artists, musicians and gardeners this moment is the place we continue to thrive.
