“Not only are they creating beautiful gifts, they are doing so using the objects we throw away on a day to day basis. By using the land around them they transform these discarded scraps into beautiful pieces that become treasured items for years to come.”

Made on a Hill is the combined creative hub of artist Sacha Rockx and woodworker and musician Rainy. Its humble beginnings reach back through years of travelling and beach combing.

From making and selling handmade driftwood jewellery and windchimes on the beaches of Australia, to upcycling glass jars into beautiful lanterns and crafting hardwood offcuts into fine hairpins and pendants back in the UK.

Each step along their journey has deepened their connection with the natural world. Every petal gathered and wood grain uncovered is received with gratitude for our beautiful planet; a reverence grown from the tropical island jungles of Indonesia to the mountain forests of Appalachia and beyond.

The couple have worked closely with nature as gardeners for over 20 years. They share a passion for creating unique handmade craft. With an underlying environmental mindfulness, the key to their work is a combination of an attention to detail and a lot of love.

Oh, and yes, they live on a hill...
